Most lens hoods can be ordered with or without the Skid Pad feature – no price difference. The Skid Pad feature is a tough, grippy, orange urethane ring embedded in the front face of the lens hood. This adds anti-slip when the camera/lens is placed face down on the hood on a smooth surface like a table top or hardwood floor. It’s the same as the orange rings on the lens caps – but it’s standard on the caps.
